Senegal too strong for Bolivia
Eager to best prepare for its 2022 World Cup match against Ecuador, Senegal dictated its law to Bolivia (2-0) this Saturday in a friendly match at the Stade de la Source, in Orléans, France. While the kick-off was postponed by 15 minutes due to the high attendance for this match which was sold out (around 7,000 spectators), it was not necessary to arrive late since Boulaye Dia opened the scoring after less than of 4 minutes of a half-volley of 20 meters deflected by the back of an adversary! This pretty but immediately put the Lions in confidence in a beautiful atmosphere and in front of an audience committed to their cause.
With a few new additions, such as Name, who helped out as a right-back and Pathé Ciss, who impressed in midfield and brought a lot of fluidity to his first cap, Aliou Cissé’s men ate their opponents in the duels and offered an attractive game with duplications. Pape Matar Sarr could have doubled the bet very quickly but the former Messin, lonely in the box, shot Lampe. The Bolivian goalkeeper then tore away to deflect Ciss’ shot with his fingertips.
Bamba Dieng played again
Like this missile from Krépin Diatta, passed just above, or this free kick from Mané boxed by the doorman, the opportunities were not lacking for the reigning African champions and Mané, already dried a first times by Bejarano a few minutes earlier, was broke by Lampe’s late exit. Penalty! The Bayern Munich striker did himself justice by changing the sentence just before half-time (2-0, 44e).
Logically, the Senegalese eased off a little on the way back from the locker room but still without being really worried by an opponent weaned from balls. The rhythm weakened until the successful changes by Cissé who notably offered their first capes to Formose Mendy and the Monegasque Jakobs. Deprived of playing time at OM, Bamba Dieng, launched by Mané, could have driven the point home but a Bolivian intervened in disaster twice to pull the rug out from under him. Not enough to spoil the successful dress rehearsal of Senegal, before rubbing shoulders with a tougher opponent, Iran, on Tuesday in Austria.
