Poule Party bouscule les codes
At first glance, we fall in love with the design of his unusual bestiary, focused on puns as much as on raising awareness of faunal diversity. And her trendy colors, putting away the pink “flowers” and other gender codes, which she didn’t want to dress up her two chicks.
Like the grown-ups, who also get their hair done there, the little ones’ locker room has a bit of a handle on it. Shapes and cuts, Mélody Gérard studied them down to the smallest detail to impose her mark on the designer who collaborates with her. Like this cork visor, resistant by nature to humidity, and whose “extraction is one of the most environmentally friendly operating processes, because no trees are cut down or damaged”.
behind the labels
This is what sets the tone of Poule Party’s identity, which definitely has it under its hat. Because if from now on no parent forgets to slip one of these headgear into the bag of his little one, in fine weather, few wonder about its origin and its composition. Mother-hen and protector, Mélody Gérard, she plays the transparency card of her products and does not hesitate to kick into the anthill of “greenwashing” and “allegedly made in France”. Because “there aren’t any, contrary to what certain labels boast… when we still find the original labels”, the young woman is surprised.
Far from admitting that she is irreproachable in her consumption patterns, nor “from wanting to make parents feel guilty”, she therefore intends to propose “a responsible alternative” and showy with its products. Because as the hen says: “better to be a hen than a pigeon”!
Problem: at the time of making his first prototypes, “There are hardly any millinery workshops in France, able to produce sufficient volumes to remain at an affordable price. Mélody Gérard, who has no intention of compromising on the quality of organic cotton that she wants Gots certified (1), is therefore expanding her research to the Mediterranean basin. Without forgetting to inquire about good practices in terms of “working conditions in the workshops”.
For the record, in her first professional life, Mélody Gérard was a lawyer specializing in business law in an international group. Finding information in small lines or behind smoke screens, she knows how to do it! It will therefore be made in Portugal, with a carbon footprint that is always lower than Asia.
Pricing policy
On the price side, the mother hen has no illusions: “we can never compete with the indecently low prices of ”made in China”, and its working conditions”. To remain accessible, without denying its values, Mélody Gérard has therefore chosen to “crush its margins” and hopes to be able to lower prices when volumes increase.
These conditions of remuneration, it also imposes them on the distributors of Poule Party. No question of seeing his commitments and his meticulous work polluted by indifferent signs. Thirty eco-compatible shops in France are now waiting for the winter collection of hats. And the entrepreneur is already thinking about next summer’s models and the arrival of new animals in her ark.
