Ewa Rąbek: How did you get to Qatar?
I finished Balkan philology in Toruń, after graduation I worked as an Albanian translator for the Polish army in Kosovo. I spent almost three years there, and although I loved my job, I felt tired after that.
Have you lived in military lighting?
Yes, I lived under military regime, I joined the army and was under military regime throughout this period. I decided to take time off and was introduced in ten ways by a flight attendant on the Qatari lines. This work is only a one-year springboard, however it soon turned out that she is very addicted and the most important work is the same for her.
The more that you met your husband at work …
It happened while in Kathmandu, Nepal. We met at the hotel, but at first we didn’t know that we both live in Qatar and work for the same company. Only after we had figured out that we came on the same plane. Rodrigo is a pilot, but he didn’t attend the pre-flight check-in with the rest of the team, so we didn’t see each other before. A year later, after the wedding.
Where’s the wedding?
In Poland. In our company, we went to our wedding, our own wedding, our family wedding, for which in my husband’s family there was no shortage of Mexican elements. We flew to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and there I found out that I was in removal.
How did you find out?
We flew by helicopter over the cliffs of the world on the island of Molokai …
Are these the cliffs that we associate with the movie “Jurassic Park”?
Same. In any case, I suddenly felt very sick. It was the first symptom that had not yet given me a problem. Only at the airport, when I did not like my new megin and tonic, I thought to myself that we are probably entering a chapter in life (laughter).
Where were you born son?
In Qatar. But Mateo does not have Qatari nationality. According to the local law, only the fifth generation born in Qatar can get a local passport. His brother, who will be born in a few months, will not have him either (laughter).
How do you remember your birth?
I gave birth in a public hospital, it was a Cuban hospital, where the medical and nurses are Cubans. I chose because of my due date, which was Ramadan. During this time, I was sparkling from sunrise to sunset, so I was afraid to be taken care of by them. I had a heavy pord that lasted 32 hours and was caesarean.
Are childbirths in Qatar online free?
No, but the costs are high. For five days of stay in the hospital and in a private room, we paid less than a thousand zlotys. Now I will probably decide to go to the hospital, although my delivery in it will probably cost around 40,000 zlotys.
For what such decision?
Qatar’s health service is often “the diamond’s set”, but it is very difficult to find someone good. The institutions outdo each other in modern architecture, but with greater health problems I was forced to fly to Poland.
You could give birth in Poland for free …
Yes, but it was a two-month separation from my husband.
In Qatar, compulsory education is deleted at the age of four, which is very precise. How was it for Mateo?
When he was three, he went to kindergarten under the British system. At the age of years, he entered a Spanish school with four degrees, and now he went to school, school. I hope he will stay there. It is a school straight from the movies, but you have very rules and principles and the level of teaching.
Do you speak Polish with your son?
Of course. I speak to him in English only if my husband is next to him, so that he does not feel alienated, and out of courtesy, when there are other people with us who do not speak Polish. Mateo speaks Polish very well, this language always dominates him after the summer spent in Poland. The period of the training period, in turn, is dominated by English. In general, both languages are on a similar level for him.
What about the language of a man? Spanish?
It has always accompanied us, but to a limited extent, when we answer in English in terms of scope. His education was never a priority, because the first thing we wanted was the Polish language, so that in the future our son would find himself without a Polish school. Spanish is just a matter of time. He accompanies Mateo from kindergarten, now in school. The husband also addresses him more and more in this language.
You have lived in Qatar for years. Remember what surprised you when you got here?
in a completely different country than today. Everything there shocked me then. But not only me. When I was riding my bike, people were taking pictures. When we created a bicycle group with my friends, many people who came to the meeting brought their bicycles because they could not ride them. They were people in their 20s and 30s, from all over the world. Besides, I was surprised that in such a restrictive country, in a Muslim country, there were so many pubs and floppy disks, which made it possible to have a very social life.
Now? Do you have any limitations in your life?
There are no limits, I feel rather comfortable parenting, which gives me upbringing in the safest country in the world. I think that the upbringing in an international environment and access to very good, individual ones are also very enjoyable. This is this date of the class of of two of this come from mixed marriages when it comes to nationality. We took a photo of my son’s top five brands on the fly and realized we had 10 nationalities in one place.
Are you often in Poland?
So very often. I work as a Qatar tour guide so summer is a dead season for me. The Polish guides who look after me, my world, perform in Qatar from October to May. When the temperature in Qatar exceeds 50 degrees Celsius, it escapes to Poland. the fact that my husband is a pilot, we use the services with flights, thanks also to the fact that you cannot limit yourself to Polish flights.
Enjoy the upcoming world soccer controls?
I will be in the eighth beast, so I do not pronounce myself for any match, although my husband and I drew tickets for the Poland-Mexico match. My husband is not a fan of collecting, so let him choose, especially alone. It is said that over a million fans will come here. To a lot for a country that alone has 2.7 million inhabitants. Children then have remote lessons, and ten who can, will run from home. The championship will probably make life difficult, but this worship and everyone and everyone in Qatar is very excited.
