While Monaco went for a narrow victory in Nanterre, the 1st day of Betclic Elite also saw Bourg-en-Bresse, Pau-Lacq-Orthez, Le Mans and Nancy win on their floors.
Title candidate, Monaco came very close to a false start! Traveling to Nanterre, the “Roca Team” went for a victory that did not seem promised to them for a long time. Better entered the match, Benjamin Sene’s teammates (20 points, 5 assists) concluded the first quarter with an eight-point lead. Without however convincing, Monaco raised their voices before the break to take control on the scoreboard by six lengths. However, Jordan Loyd’s teammates (17 points) fell back in their return crossing on the floor with a delay of five lengths ten minutes from the end of the meeting. It was only in the last minutes of the match, thanks to a 9-0, that the Monegasques snatched victory (75-78). Another curiosity at the start of the season, Paris was ranked its start to the championship at Bourg-en-Bresse. After an attached start, Tyron Wallace’s teammates (26 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists) raced in the lead with up to 19 points ahead in the second quarter. It was in a fiery last quarter that Bourg-en-Bresse made up for lost time. Jordan Floyd’s teammates (41 points) even thought they would win, but a final three-point shot sent both teams into overtime. Five extra minutes that allowed JL Bourg to make the difference for a three-point success (102-99).
