Fognbuar clearly the big goal of the year in Copenhagen
Håvard Østhus and Trond Arne Borgemy managed the goal they had set themselves in the half marathon in Copenhagen last weekend, by a good margin.
Håvard aimed to beat the family record of 1.27.30. He did it brilliantly in a time of 1.25.56
Trond Arne hoped to finish under 1.40. He “smashed” the time by 16 seconds.
Don’t be deterred
– It was brutal. Especially the last three kilometers, when I most wanted to give up. It was actually much harder than I had expected. But I also have nothing to compare it to since this was my first half marathon.
– Did it add more flavor?
– Well, both and. I actually want to try to get even a little further down in time. I jumped with a mate, but after a quarter of an hour I only saw his back, it wasn’t that motivating. In January next year it’s the half marathon at Sola, I can sign up for that, smiles Trond Arne Borgemyr.
Toying with the idea of a marathon
Håvard broke both his own record and the family record. With a time of 1.25.56, he beat his nephew’s record by 1.34 minutes.
– This turned out to be a great race, perfectly flat track and good atmosphere all the way. I would go so far as to say that I only want to run a half-marathon, so bet on Copenhagen. The first kilometers were some of the most beautiful I’ve run, but the last were some of the worst, says Håvard.
– Will there be more half marathons?
– I should never say never, but no one has actually started toying with the idea of a heilmarathon. I don’t know what time it might be, so it’s not planned, says Håvard.
Both Trond Arne and Håvard jumped on the “world’s best” sneakers in Copenhagen, super-fast Nike Alphafly.
– They lived up to expectations.
“Heil konge, an experience to jump on,” assures the marathon runners from Fogn.
