Belarus expects to get membership in the SCO in a year. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a conversation with journalists in the state memorial complex “Khatyn”, reports BELTA.
“Go through this path (the procedure for admission to the SCO Council. – BelTA’s note), except for the founders. The next meeting in India was set before the entire government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, first of all, so that we would go this way in a year (the organization would not meet earlier),” Alexander Lukashenko.
The provision on the admission of new members to the SCO-applicant should be applicable to the organization of the INF Treaty (and there are about 40 of them), the successive changes in national legislation that have taken place. For example, it took Iran more than a year and a half. “He went the same way that we had to go,” the President noted. – We booked for a year. And as soon as we accept everything that has been developed there, they collect all this information in Delhi – on the table of the heads of state. They make a decision, as they did with Iran. There is – we become ordinary. This path must be taken by all.”
As previously reported, Alexander Lukashenko took part in the SCO summit on September 15-16. To complete the meeting of states in Samarkand, the head of Belarus began the procedure for her admission to the council of the organization. The application of the Belarusian side was unanimously delayed at the summit.
