Tough evening for JS Cherbourg, this Friday, September 23, 2022. Les Mauves, playoff finalists last season, bowed heavily on the promoted floor Bordeaux (31-20)where they played the 3rd day of Proligue.
A race behind the score
The Cherbourgeois had however given the impression of having entered the match well, opening the score in the first minute by Jason Muel, but that was the only time they were led. The people of Bordeaux then took the score on their own.
The gap widened greatly between the 16th and 25th minute of play, since the locals then scored a 7-2 (from 8-6 to 15-8), allowing the Girondins to put a significant gap from half-time (18-10).
Unfortunately, the JSC could not reduce the gap to less than 5 goals (21-15, 39th) afterwards, despite a red card from Bordeaux, and they lost with the final score of 31-20.
It all came down to the goalkeepers, Gauthier Ivah being in abnormally poor form (1 save in 19 shots) while the Bordeaux goalkeeper, Ivan Vekic, stopped 19 of 39 Cherbourg shots.
