Fire on Brussels Brandhoutkaai: fire brigade ends intervention
On Friday afternoon, the Madame Mustache nightclub in Brussels caught fire. A few hours later, the Brussels fire brigade confirmed that the fire in the building is now fully under control. There were no injuries. The Brussels fire brigade ended its intervention on the Brandhoutkaai shortly after 5 p.m.
The fire brigade was soon in Brussels in preparation for a fire at around 1 pm. According to them, there was a fire at a three-storey building on Brandhoutkaai. On the ground floor is the Madame Mustache disco. “The back of the building was on fire,” said Walter Derieuw, of the Brussels fire brigade bruzz. “The Secret Annex has also collapsed.” That space also led to the disco and was used as a storage place.
The site of the fire was difficult to reach and there was a danger of collapse, so the fire brigade had to extinguish the fire along Brandhoutkaai and Saturday Square. “The brand is now fully under control,” the fire department said. The cause is currently unknown.
“Everyone was already evacuated before the emergency services came for information,” Derieuw said. “Fortunately there were no injuries.” The clean-up work will take some time, according to the fire department.
