35 euros for surveys by statisticians
politics
Who has how much time for what in Austria? Statistics Austria experts are now looking nationwide for answers to such questions. In the state of Salzburg alone, members of 250 households are being questioned in more detail. This is worth a premium of 35 euros to the state or politicians per household.
How much time do people spend at work, school, sport or culture? How long do their daily journeys take? How much time does caregiving or housework take?
Politicians want insight
Because the decision-making bases are also important for politics – as it is said, Statistics Austria is conducting the so-called “time use survey” nationwide for the first time since 2009. In the state of Salzburg, the members of 250 households randomly selected from the central population register are asked to keep accounts for two days, says Sophie Psihoda from Statistics Austria.
Results will be published in 2023
The data collected is strictly confidential and only used for statistical purposes, it is emphasized. Completely surveyed households will receive a shopping voucher worth 35 euros as a thank you for participating. A current picture of the time spent by all Austrians aged ten and over will be published after the evaluation in the coming year, says statistician Psihoda.
