Feast of Saint Michael. Jean-Luc Moudenc demands an end to the blockages
The mayor of Toulouse Jean-Luc Moudenc agrees to meet the fairgrounds of the Saint-Michel festival on condition that they suspend the blockages they organize.
Negotiations will resume. In mail unveiled by the Town Hall of Toulouse in the afternoon of this Tuesday, September 20, the mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR) opens the door to negotiations with the fairgrounds of the Saint-Michel festival about the organization of the festivities. The latter had asked to meet him in person in the presence of the prefect of Haute-Garonne.
” I am delighted that the dialogue can finally resume between us. (…) Also, I confirm my availability to discuss, together, the Fête Saint-Michel, of which the people of Toulouse are unfortunately still deprived”, writes Jean-Luc Moudenc.
The city councilor, however, puts a condition on the organization of an appointment with the fairgrounds of the Saint-Michel festival. ” This meeting requires a non-negotiable prerequisite: the end of the slowdowns on the roads of the Toulouse conurbation by the presence of your trucks and the commitment to refrain from this practice in the form of a coup de force”, indicates the courier. “This is a commitment that I ask you to observe now. »
Tensions for the organization of the Saint-Michel festival in Toulouse
The tension was at its height between the Town Hall of Toulouse and the fairgrounds of the Saint-Michel festival. The latter organized several blockades and snail operations in Toulouse, in particular on the ring road, between Friday 16 and Tuesday 20 September.
These demonstrations expressed the anger of the mayor of Toulouse Jean-Luc Moudenc as shown by a letter shared Thursday, September 15 by the communication service of the municipality. ” Obviously, you prefer to force through (…). All this constitutes a way of acting of nature to prevent the creation of a climate of trust between us, ”writes the city councilor.
The Town Hall of Toulouse and the fairgrounds of the Saint-Michel festival cannot agree on a place that can host the festivities. About twenty sites were then selected. Ten were proposed by the Fairground Federation. But neither found favor in the eyes of both parties.
