Near Toulouse: this A61 motorway rest area is being modernized and will welcome new brands

The motorway concession operator Vinci highways launched a renovation program for eight rest areas on the A61 between Toulouse and Narbonne. After Port Lauragais area South and North Corbièresit’s the turn of those of Carcassonne Arzens North and of Toulouse South (access to which is possible in the direction of Toulouse – Carcassonne) to get a makeover.
The latter, located in Deyme, between the Palays toll and the Montgiscard exithas been assigned to the operator Dyneff in 2021 (also in charge of the site located on the other side of the A61 since 2020). The area has been under construction since Monday, September 5 and will be closed for five months.
New layout for pedestrians and vehicles
As part of this project, the place has been completely redesigned. The circulation of pedestrians and vehicles must be overhauled with new signage and a new separation of flows between light vehicles and heavy goods vehicles. Of the additional parking spaces for light vehicles should also allowincrease its carrying capacity.

New restaurant brands
New restaurant brands must also set up at the Toulouse Sud rest area towards Narbonne. In addition to Golden brioche and grilled golden briochealready present on this site, Vinci Autoroute announces the arrival of Crêp’eat (creperie) and Mezzoday (pizzeria).
” It corresponds to three types of catering and three types of budget. A different service offer. This is the new way of consuming on the road”, we explain at Vinci Autoroutes.
That’s not all. A seasonal outlet for the Häagen Dazs ice cream brand will settle from May to September.
A proxy shop
Regarding the shop in the area, the operator Dyneff offers the Proxi brand with basic necessities for the vehicle, drinks, food products and a toy department.
The place is announced as resolutely modern with touch screens, external control terminals and connected games.
The shop will also have a fully dedicated corner products in the colors of Stade Toulousain.
An electric charging station
The area will have an electric charging station. The E-Vadea company will install 11 charging points for commissioning in the first quarter of 2023.
Vinci Autoroutes also announces modernization works undertaken by operators for a more energy efficient area. The insulation of buildings, the installation of photovoltaic panels, the installation of LED bulbs are notably cited.
The A61 dealer also highlights its objective of 100% waste recovery at its sites by 2030 and recovery of rainwater. Finally, Vinci Autoroutes indicates that local species will be developed in preserved green spaces in order to promote the preservation of biodiversity. Different equipment must be installed: insect hotels, observation areas, nesting boxes…
Reopening in 2023
The Toulouse Sud service area, towards Narbonne, will reopen in February 2023.
