Halsema: college comes with measures for energy crisis
It concerns social minimums, people who are just above that, small and medium-sized enterprises and social facilities such as sports associations. Halsema could not yet give details about how the measures will look, how much money will be released. We have to wait for the budget of Amsterdam for 2023, which Alderman Hester van Buren (Finance) will announce this week.
Halsema said he was ‘very concerned’ about the energy bills of Amsterdammers. She agrees with alderman Marjolein Moorman (Poverty) who previously spoke of a ‘threatening driveway’.
Call to cabinet
That is why the mayor also made requests to the cabinet. She hopes that the cabinet will set a price ceiling for consumers to prevent people from getting into debt. It should also not be the case that students are excluded from the energy allowance, according to the mayor.
She also said she received many messages from wealthy Amsterdammers who would like to. She therefore calls on the cabinet to drop the asset test for people who receive a donation, and not to burden donors with ‘all kinds of tax assessments’.
Halsema advises Amsterdammers who are currently unable to make ends meet to contact a neighborhood team. “Please get help, we really want to help.”
Prince’s Day
Political sources confirmed on Friday that the cabinet wants to set a price ceiling for electricity and gas. What this would look like, and when this is possible, is still the subject of discussion. Next Tuesday, on Budget Day, the cabinet will also present the national budget for 2023. According to insiders, the purchasing power drop of recent months will only be partly dampened.
