Prague 6 tests green lamps | PRAGUE 6 | News

Prague 6 is testing two so-called green lamps on its territory. These replaced the existing public lighting poles, which had to be replaced due to their age.

“We were led to this on the one hand by our long-term cooperation with the Czech University of Agriculture, where they are testing all possible similar solutions. They asked us if it would be possible to test in the urban area as well. And we are also led to this by the fact that we have several strategic documents approved , which are related to the climate, the greening of Prague and how the city deals with the coming climate change, and one of these topics is greening. We are now in Dejvická street, where there are a lot of networks and it is such a beautiful example of not everywhere in the city goes to plant trees,”

“I heard about this project for the first time about a year and a half ago, when we discussed the possibility of some innovative green projects with the technologies at the municipality, and when I saw a photo of a lamp in Singapore, we thought that it exactly solves Dejvická’s problem. Because Dejvická , as a street, it has been planned for x years, roughly almost 20 years, that it will be reconstructed and until now it was not possible to somehow revitalize the street, and right here the island or square was really unhappy. There was a container here and there were always a lot of comments and complaints, that we don’t have enough greenery here,”

In addition to the aforementioned Dejvická street, another green lamp is located near the Hradčanská metro station.

“It is a steel structure on which climbing plants grow. The mast of the steel structure is planted in a flower pot with clay and plants are planted there. There are five types of plants in total. This steel structure reaches a height of five meters and is fitted with two saltwater lamps of power consumption 28 W,”

If the operation of the green lamps proves to be successful and the responses of the residents of Prague 6 are positive, I plan to extend the lamps to other places in the city in the future.
