Belgians abroad – Philippe Clement’s AS Monaco start their campaign with a victory against Red Star

Thursday evening, for the first day of the group stage of the Europa League, AS Monaco of Philippe Clément won, 0-1, on the ground of the Red Star of Belgrade.

Eliot Matazo appeared on the Monegasque bench at the start of the meeting in the Serbian capital. The situation was unblocked in the 74th minute, on the penalty converted by Breel Embolo in favor of ASM. Philippe Clement chose not to bring in Eliot Matazo, who has not entered the field for four games, after having participated largely in the 3rd preliminary round of the Champions League during the authorized course Monaco lost against the PSV. With this victory, Monaco is off to a good start and 2nd place in Group H, behind Ferencvaros who won 3-2 at home against Trabzonspor. The Turks are therefore 3rd and the Red Star completes the ranking. (Belgian)
