Since August 29, 2022, at 5:33 a.m. precisely, the station “Tops of the Orne” from tramway T3 in Fleury-sur-Orne (Calvados) is in service. This is the new terminus of the T3 tram line, deactivated in July 2019.
Caen city center in 20 minutes
This 600-metre extension from the Collège Hawking stop bears the name of the Hauts de l’Orne eco-district under construction south of Caen. It allows residents to reach the Caen city center in 20 minutes passing through the Fresnel and Rostand high schools, Caen station, Bernières station and Saint-Pierre station. At the other end of the line, the terminus is at Château-Quatrans station.
A well-served southern plateau
The Hauts de l’Orne station was not built right away because the eco-district had not yet emerged from the ground in 2019.
Nine buildings are now in the process of being completed. Eventually, by 2033, 1,800 homes should make up this eco-district. “This stop is an additional string to our eco-district”, adds the mayor.
Just opposite the stop, another district and another municipality are also served: Ifs and the inhabitants of the Clos Chaumont district.
“We are thus finalizing the 2019 project with the north-south line of the tramway, adds Joël Bruneau, the president of Caen la mer. We are now starting the consultation procedures for the east-west direction”. Eight public meetings are held. The premiere instead of September 30 at the Moho.
The Hauts de l’Orne stop has the same traffic frequency as the others, namely a tram every 10 minutes from 5:45 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
