Saalfelden’s management goal is only a matter of time
“In the first half it was one-way street football,” admitted Saalbach coach Maximilian Winkler. While the home team from Saalfelden pushed like crazy in front of 300 spectators and started attack after attack, the guests could hardly provide any relief. “Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get the ball fixed. So we came under constant pressure,” said Winkler. But because FC Pinzgau 1b were negligent with their chances and Saalbach keeper Ruzic had a great day, the goal was blocked until the half-time break.
Disciplined guests defended themselves to win points
Tactical adaptations to the half-time gossip finally helped the Saalbachers get into the game better. “The order in our two chains was a lot better. For a long time we didn’t allow the Saalfeldeners any valuable chances and came up with one or the other offensive moment ourselves,” reported Winkler. Hasenauer had the best chances with an ultimately too central shot from the edge of the penalty area and Kreysch with a header after a corner. After the party had flown along for a long time, there was a serious threat to score again in the final minutes. First, a goal from the hosts was disallowed for offside, and in the last few meters a shot from the left-hand position just barely grazed the far post. “We always had problems on the big pitch in Saalfelden, even before our upheaval. I’m proud of the boys – they fought like lions,” said Winkler, celebrating the second point of the current season. Pleasant side note: Noah Eberharter celebrated his starting XI debut, Raphael Kaufmann and Alexander Riedlsperger both played for the first time for the first team.
