In Gran Guardia between Hippocratic Oaths and Lifetime Achievement Awards
After two years of forced break due to the pandemic, the Veronese Doctors and Dentists returned to meet in the presence, yesterday at the Palazzo della Gran Guardia, for the traditional Day of the Doctor and Dentist, the most important institutional moment of the Order of surgeons and dentists of the province of Verona.
For years, the deepest meaning of the anniversary has been the meeting between generations, the passing of the baton between the most experienced colleagues and young graduates and qualified students who, by taking the Hippocratic Oath, fully enter the profession.
41 senior professionals were awarded in 2020 and 2021 they celebrated the 50th anniversary of graduation, each of which was awarded the ordinistic medal as recognition for having contributed to making Veronese healthcare an excellence. Furthermore, 182 newly graduated and qualified graduates were called to pronounce the Hippocratic Oath who enrolled in the Order of Verona in the same years. Another day dedicated to the newly qualified in 2022 and to seniors who are celebrating half a century of graduation this year is already scheduled for Saturday 5 November.
The Day of the Doctor and the Dentist is a celebratory event, but also of reflection on the reorganization of the Venetian Healthcare in the light of the Pnrr and on the state of the profession between the lack of staff and the concerns of many colleagues, even freelancers, for the conditions work and excessive bureaucratic formalities that take away precious time from clinical activity.
“The Veneto is a consistent spill of health from the system,” underlined during its president of the Order of Doctors and Dentists, Carlo Rugiu. “Another two or three years will pass before we can cope with this lack thanks to a batch of new white coats. In the meantime, the increase in the number of general practitioners and the expansion of the training network also to hospitals can include a hinge to give oxygen to local and hospital healthcare. But for this to happen, the Region must collaborate and in synergy with the Orders of Doctors and the Universities of Padua and Verona ».
“On the assistance front”, he added, “a window is opened thanks to the NRR, which has allocated seven billion euros to be spent in five years to change the structure of the current model through the creation of community houses and hospitals. of community, a decisive push towards innovation for family doctors, the development of home care and local operations centers to network and communicate the emergency room with 118 and general practitioners ».
To do the honors, together with the OMCeO president, Rugiu, also the president of the Albo Odontoiatri (CAO) Commission Elena Boscagin, who in her introductory greeting pointed to the
