After the good start to the competition against CSV Apeldoorn, Sportclub Genemuiden had to be recognized in AVV Swift in Amsterdam. The goal of the match 1-0 by a goal from Gidel Yilmaz.
The high temperatures will have affected the game, but to use this as an excuse would be going too far. Swift looked fitter in the first half and was also the parent party, but it was Sportclub Genemuiden that gave the first impetus. For example, a pass from Rens van Benthem ended up with Nick Buitink, he still took the ball well, but the sequel alone yielded nothing.
On the other hand, it was Don Gambier who just missed his ball with a long shot. But that was about it. The game really started to get going and until the halftime signal nothing much happened.
Bloodletting was good that Noureddine Boutzamar had to leave the field with an injury. On Swift’s side, this happened to Raymond Manuputty.
Due to the interim substitution of Boutzamar, it was Jur van Dalfsen who was allowed to make a competition this season after a long injury. More than 60 minutes of play were reserved for him in which he has not yet forgotten the game.
At the end of the first half, it was Swift who got the best opportunity, Carlos Groen was allowed to quote. But his ball didn’t make the cut either. His shot was hard, but it lacked the right direction.
After the break it was again Swift who set the tone, it was Raj van Parerer who saw the header end up in the hands of goalkeeper Hidde Streutker. Not much later it happened. A quick breakout by the team from Amsterdam turned out to be impossible for the defense of Genemuiden. Don Gambier’s cross was accurate and it was Fidel Yilmaz who was able to shoot the ball hard into the goal.
The 1-0 deficit forced Sportclub Genemuiden to take it up a notch, trying this too, but Swift proved tougher than expected. Via Teun van Zweden and Sammy Gemmel they went on the hunt for more, only it was goalkeeper Streutker who they encountered on their way.
Time was running out, the extra intercalated drinking breaks provided some extra minutes, but no more than that. In the final phase, Yoran Popovic missed the ball by a hair’s breadth and substitute Jur van Dalfsen was not allowed to return with a goal. So there was no more scoring.
