Debrecen won its first victory under new management – results, table
The host Debrecen won by one goal against MOL Fehérvár FC on the 7th round of the football OTP Bank League on Saturday. Under the management of Tibor Dombi, who succeeded Joao Janeiro, who left by mutual agreement on Wednesday, the Hajdúság team had their first success of the season, while Fehérvár suffered their fourth defeat in their fourth away game.
For the first time, the teams played with a good pace and momentum on both sides, dangerous situations arose on both sides, but the goalkeepers did their job well. Debrecen had more possession of the ball and had several chances, and managed to convert one of them – right before the break – into a goal. It belongs to the chronicle of the first half that Bamgboye and Krisztofer Horváth collided after a corner, the latter fell to the ground, had to be nursed, and after being replaced, was taken to the hospital with a suspected concussion.
After the turn, the home team continued where they left off, goalkeeper Kovács had to save several times. Fehérvár played imprecisely and without any punching power, so head coach Michael Boris tried to update his team with four substitutions in the middle of the inning. This is not continuous either, but they are still in control, and they have repeatedly stuck in front of themselves. Debrecen looked tired in the first half, but in the end they managed to maintain their minimal advantage.
Vasas played a 1-1 draw with the visiting Puskás Academy. Newcomer Vasas is still winless in the hunt for points, with two losses and a draw for the fifth time. For the fourth time in the season, the Felcsúti reached a point, with two wins and one loss.
The match started with a medium-paced field game, the goals were not in danger for a long time. In the middle of the first half, the home team had two chances, and they took the lead in the third: Géresi fought for a pass, and his cross on the long side was converted into a goal by Holender. It switched to a higher gear, but the Felcúti team only gained a sterile advantage, the goal was not in its game.
At the beginning of the second half, the teams undertook a brave offensive game, the midfield was played quickly and mainly without obstacles. As a result, they were in front of both goals, and Zahedi then equalized in the 56th minute at the end of a well-rounded move. In the sequel, the image of the game did not change – although it was dotted with more and more errors – and neither did the result.
Newcomer Kecskemét won 3-1 at home against Paks. In front of their own audience, the Lilacs are still undefeated, with three wins and one draw at home, and they have regained the third position in the table.
After the start, there was complete confusion in the middle of the Paks, through which the home team rushed, but they did not know the penalty area until the minutes: first Djuranovic missed a jump, Banó-Szabó kicked the one he fought for.
Róbert Waltner, his head coach, had to replace him in the 10th minute, Windecker felt himself during the warm-up, according to on-site information. Paks organized their lines, but Kecskemét played more dangerous football until the end of the half. In the 38th minute, Tolnaia finally had five scoring opportunities within one attack, but in the end they could not celebrate a goal.
Just two minutes after the turn, Kecskemét took the lead, and Bálint Katona, who entered the field during the break, proved to be a perfect replacement. Twenty minutes before the end, the audience could see unusual scenes, Banó-Szabó sold a jump shot, but the referee signaled off. The football team in Kecskemét was replaced, but in the meantime, the VAR investigation proved that he was not on the lookout, so he could “show” his goal joy on the bench.
Paks opened the match with Sajbán’s goal early on, but in the 88th minute another substitute, Levente Szabó, was also effective.
