this map that lists the most famous person born in your city
Paul Bocuse in Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or, Claude Bernard in Saint-Julien, Jacques Martin in Croix-Rousse and Claudius in Vieux Lyon. Have you always wanted to know the celebrity born near you? The website“ Notable people ” is made for you.
Through a very simple interface, you can walk around your city, in your neighborhood, to find out who is the “most famous person” who was born or raised there. Almost all the communes of the Rhône thus have an associated name, more or less known.
By browsing the website, you will be able to discover, for example, that the most famous person to have been born in Saint-Genis-Laval is Marc Riboud, a photographer from the Rhone who died in 2016 and who also gave his name to a street of the commune in the south-west of Lyon.
You will also learn that the former footballer Jérémy Berthod is a native of Tassin, that the biathlete Jean-Guillaume Béatrix grew up in Saint-Priest or that the most famous personality of Dardilly is none other than Jean-Marie Vianney, Catholic priest Frenchman known for having been named patron saint of all priests in the Universe by Pope Pius Xi in 1929, four years after being restored to the rank of Saint by the same pope.
Saint-Exupéry and some omissions
By zooming in on the metropolis of Lyon, it is by district that the names of celebrities are arranged. Laure Manaudou, for example, replaces the name of the district of Gratte-Ciel in Villeurbanne, Amélie de Montchalin is inscribed on the site of the 8th arrondissement of Lyon and Jean-Marie Domenach, writer and Resistance fighter from Lyon, is placed on the peninsula. island, just south of Place Bellecour.
The better known the local celebrity, the bigger their name appears on the map. Thus, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry sits proudly in the middle of the city of Lyon, as does Claudius, the fourth Roman emperor who lived in old Lyon in the 1st century BC.
Note that certain “oversights” of the website seem unforgivable for all self-respecting Rhone residents… There is, for example, no trace of Karim Benzema in Bron, nor of Jean-Michel Jarre in the 4th arrondissement of Lyon, no more than Abbé Pierre, who was also born in Lyon. Hoping that in the next version of the website, these omissions will be repaired.
