The Hannover Girls’ Choir celebrates its 70th anniversary | NDR.de – Culture – Broadcasts
At the beginning of July there was a celebration in Hanover: 70 years of the Hanover Girls’ Choir. The program included many British folk song arrangements, music by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Benjamin Britten. For Andreas Felber it was important to offer a lively program, a real birthday program. For the native Swiss, folk songs, which are currently experiencing a revival, are part of the singing tradition.
Folk songs as well as contemporary repertoire
At the same time, it is important to further develop the choral repertoire, to commission compositions for the women’s vocal ensemble, which has so many colors to offer. On September 24, the Hannover Girls’ Choir will perform the choral opera “Dido’s Secret”, which the Hannover-based composer Andreas N. Tarkmann wrote for the choir. Finally being back on stage and being able to give concerts to the Hannover girls’ choir, like many other ensembles, have been moments of happiness again since this year.
