The morning of Monday August 29, 2022 was marked by the suicide of a mothera Fonsorbes (Haute-Garonne)close to Toulouse. Aged 51 and responsible for the maintenance service at the town hall, Magali has “put an end to years of harassment”, believes her relatives.

“His brain has disconnected”

Four days later, and despite everything, animated by an immense force, Pierrick, the eldest of his two sons, aged 28, testifies. He will forever remember this morning of Monday August 29, 2022.

“I was at work, in Montauban. My brother called me around 9:45 a.m. to tell me that a mother hadn’t been to work, which was not his. never happened of his entire career. Magali, 51, responsible for the maintenance service in Fonsorbes, the town where she lives, has committed irreparable damage.

Pierrick, who lives in Pinsaguel, tells. “The firefighters came and broke the window. They found my mother hanging in the living room, without a word. The house was very clean, the dishes empty, the fridge full. There was even a present that she had to give to her aunt the next day…”. Dorian’s older brother, 26 years old, was able to understand why his mother had committed this gesture.

“The doctor who came to certify the death explained to us that she had a black hole. There was a rise in anxiety that was too strong, her brain disconnected and told her to get it over with, without thinking of her children. and her dog who were her life. If she had thought for a second of her dog, she would have thrown him outside. I asked the question, and I was told that he was inside at the time of the drama. So it’s really that she no longer has anything, her brain has disconnected…”

A notebook and revelations

In the house, Pierrick discovers a notebook. “My mother used a diary that was about work. She noted every day what was wrong. On all the pages, we find the name of his stalker. My mother also noted that she vomited in the morning before leaving for work. We didn’t know…”

And this famous rise of anguish is therefore only the result of these years of struggle. “When my mother was promoted to head of the maintenance department two years ago, she was headed by a person totally incompetent who was harassing a bit everyone. This one ends up being laid off and goes on sick leave. Magali’s family is reassured. But the husband takes over. “He also works at the town hall of Fonsorbes and harassed her also. »

Multiple threats

Magali is not the only victim. Pierrick, like several union officials in the city of Fonsorbes contacted by Toulouse News and who wished to remain anonymous, explain that there are « 19 testimonials of people who are also harassed by these people”. The son of the deceased was also able to exchange a few words with these respondents. “I told them to stop working because it shows physically that they are on the edge of the abyss. It’s shocking… “

“My brother, an engineer, is homosexual and this woman made homophobic remarks, saying that a homosexual could not be an engineer, that if it had been her, as a mother, she would not have supported it. And last week her husband tried to drive over my mother, deliberately. A man who has worked with him for 20 years and who was with him in the car, who told about it. He testified against him .”

What dialogues with the town hall?

Pierrick comes back to his mother’s calls for help. “She was trying to escalate her problems to the hierarchy so that actions could be taken into account. But the Director of Human Resources an all filtered, all muffled. “The son does not want to go to the town hall of Fonsorbes. “I am quite a bloodthirsty person and I think that if I went there, I would break everything… My father went there and spoke with the mayor which was collapsed. She fell from the clouds and said that she was not aware of a tenth of all these things…”.

But several union officials recall that “The town hall was alerted. As of March 2022, we had noted these 19 written testimonies of inappropriate behavior on the agents of this service. These same elected officials also regret the reaction of this same town hall: “there is no not even black tape on the website. We only got an email from the DGS on Friday. They will put a photo of Magali in the entrance hall”.

The time of mourning

Now is the time to mourn. And to pay tribute to Magali. ” A woman always extremely smiling, sweet, who never said no, even if she should have known how to say it at some point”, testify her colleagues and friends. “She assumed all these functions in the maintenance department for which she was rewarded for more than 20 years. For his part, Pierrick, his son, makes the many messages he has received speak. “I am still being asked comment it is possible for attacking my mother, who was extremely nice. It’s impossible that all this hatred comes from her…”.

The cremation ceremony should take place tuesday september 6, in the afternoon. As for Magali’s friends, they “asked to meet all together for him pay homage the best possible “.

“It’s painful for everyone…”

Contacted by Toulouse news, Françoise Siméon, Mayor of Fonsorbes, still hard to believe. “The management, Magali’s colleagues and myself, we all missed it. The day before, she had had work colleagues on the phone and told them ‘see you tomorrow’. She kept all this suffering to herself…”.

The first city councilor remembers the episode of spring 2022, where a management problem within the maintenance department is announced to her. “Our reaction was immediate: we asked the manager in question to resign from his post, to show the agents that we supported them and that we were going to recruit someone else. She did, and for me, the situation was peaceful. »

“But Magali continued to be pressured, by the manager but also by her husband, since there was this story of voluntary driving last week. I summoned the witness, who was the passenger, and he confirmed the event. I therefore suspended the husband and immediately notified the gendarmerie. I am awaiting an investigation, so that light is shed on the causes of this suicide. There is things to clear up.”

Francoise SimeonMayor of Fonsorbes

At the time of dressing such a painful wound, the town hall “immediately called in a psychological support cell. This Friday, a nurse was there to greet the officers individually. She will be there, too, next week. We installed a portrait of Magali in the hall of the town hall with a black banner”.

The elected official announces, finally, a closure of all the services of the town hall at 11:45 a.m., Monday, September 5, “so that we can pay homage to him all together. As an employer, this situation is painful for me and for all the teams…”.
