Lithuania received an advance payment for the transit of goods from Russia and Belarus
Lithuanian Railways received 2.5 million euros. This money will ensure the passage of goods, including in Kaliningrad, within three to four weeks, said Egidijus Lazauskas, CEO of the company.
2.5 million euros were transferred to the account of Lithuanian Railways for the transportation of Russian and Belarusian goods, declared General Director of the company Egidijus Lazauskas. According to him, this amount will be enough for three to four weeks of transportation, including in Kaliningrad.
Lazauskas added that advance payments had previously been played from so-called risky clients. Russia became one of those after February 24th.
Previously, all amounts for transit went through the Lithuanian Siauliai Bank. He stopped settlements in rubles with the adoption of August, with the beginning of September, they completely stop serving Russian customers.
What changed? Evgeny Perunov, President of the Kaliningrad Association of Furniture Manufacturers, comments:

In the next few weeks, banks should decide how they will make payments, they say. Andrey Romanov, Chairman of the Board of the Zalesye Agro-Industrial Complex:
– In fact, there is an attempt to reduce transit. At the beginning, artificial violations were discovered – a type of delay in the transit of sanctioned goods. Now it’s probably something to come up with payments and with payment. We are on the way. Of course, this leads to the fact that all large cargo flows remain through the sea route – that is, the Leningrad Region, the Kaliningrad Region.
– The general director of Lithuanian Railways said that the money would not last long. Is this a statement of fact or is it a hint that the complexity will increase in the future, or is he hinting that they will raise the price?
“They are unlikely to raise the price. He hints that it is just at what time, for which banks – and we understand that banks independently make decisions that will not, will still go to the government (Lithuanian or European) – will have to consider possible payments and make a decision by negligent acceptance of funds. Therefore, I think that these decisions will be discovered and caught in the next weeks, as the water area continues.
On Thursday, September 1, Vladimir Putin met with Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov declaredthat energy production in Kaliningrad is becoming more economical. The head of the region suggested that the president instruct the Ministry of Transport to transfer free ferries and dry cargo ships from the Montenegrin Sea and other basins to the Kaliningrad region. According to Alikhanov, this certainly bypasses Lithuanian restrictions and reduces the cost of routes for the right business.
