Inactivated vaccine Valneva now on offer in Salzburg
Coronavirus
The new coronavirus inactivated vaccine Valneva will be available in Salzburg from Wednesday: Anyone who wants can be immunized with it in the vaccination streets near Salzburg Central Station and in the St. Johann (Pongau) retirement home.
In Salzburg, interest in a corona vaccination two weeks before the start of school has increased somewhat. “There is now more vaccination again, but not to the extent that we used to have,” said Holger Förster, vaccination officer at the Salzburg Medical Association, at an online press conference on Tuesday.
Valneva is currently approved for 18-50 year olds
According to Rainer Pusch, vaccination coordinator of the state of Salzburg, the questions about Valneva are currently “not very pronounced”. This may also be because this vaccine is only approved for the first and second doses of the primary vaccination and for 18 to 50 year olds. Initially, 50 cans were ordered for Pongau and 150 cans for the city of Salzburg.
Hoping for more coronavirus vaccination readiness
Many more vaccinations would be possible
Six different vaccines can now be obtained in Salzburg. 25,000 vaccinations would be possible per week – but only 2,162 vaccinations were distributed last week. More than half of the population is currently “fully immunized”, as the proponents say. The state is expected to issue an official recommendation for the fourth stitch for everyone over the age of twelve this week. So far, it has long been said that this is only recommended for those over 60. The new course is intended to weaken a possible autumn wave, it is now said.
In order to increase motivation among the population, more advertising is needed again, says Rainer Pusch, vaccination coordinator for the state of Salzburg: “There are very different approaches, for example educational and information events that resident doctors can offer in community centers. That goes as far as radio and TV spots.” In addition to the two vaccination routes in the city of Salzburg and St. Johann, you can currently get vaccinated in 270 doctor’s surgeries in Salzburg.
