live the launch of the Artemis mission at the Cité de l’Espace
This is a new stage in the conquest of space. On Monday, August 29, NASA will launch the first Orion spacecraft more than 70,000 km beyond the Moon. A launch broadcast live at the Cité de l’Espace. This first manned test flight also aims to certify as part of a round-trip Earth-Moon trip from the Orion capsule.
The American machine is equipped with a service module of the European Space Agency (ESA) produced in part by Airbus. This first launch aims to prepare Artemis II, which will send four astronauts around our natural satellite in 2024.

The event will be commented on from 2 p.m. Toulouse Space Citythis Monday, August 29, in the presence of Antoine Alaouni, system engineer for the propulsion of Orion at Airbus and Sébastien Barde and deputy director of exploration and manned flights at CNES.
The opportunity to observe the prowess of the Orion spacecraft, developed by Airbus leading in hand with the European Space Agency (ESA). It will be a kind of rehearsal before the great Artemis II mission in 2024. A year later, Artemis III should allow Orion to “safely transport the first woman to the Moon”, specifies Airbus.

“Moon, Episode 2”
In parallel, the public will be able to discover the exhibition “Moon, episode 2” of the Space City. It raises public awareness of the lunar environment and also presents the current challenges to be met in terms of sustainable human settlement.
“How to live, eat, work on the Moon? All these subjects are covered in the exhibition through experiences and situations”, details the Cité de l’Espace. An evocation of lunar projects, such as the artemis mission return of the astronauts to the Moon, is also proposed within this exhibition.
