HC Innsbruck is narrowly defeated by Lugano – Hockey-News.info – All news about national and international ice hockey
HC Innsbruck suffered a narrow defeat against the top Swiss team from Lugano.
The Tyroleans even get off to a better start in Lugano and find their first big chance through Tyler Coulter. The new signing fails because of goalie Koskinen. The hosts then came into play better, and in the 15th minute Kaski took a 1-0 lead on a power play.
The Haie can also keep the party open in the middle third and keep creating chances, but Lugano scores the goal again. The Finn Markus Granlund (over 300 NHL games) says “thank you” in the second attempt and makes it 2-0.
In the final section, the sharks can finally cheer. Daniel Leavens scores in the power play for the Haie for a short time 1:2, but a little later Granlund restores the 2-goal lead for Lugano with his second goal. It stays at 3:1.
Despite the defeat, the Haie showed a strong overall performance that gives hope for the upcoming games and the start of the season.
HC TIWAG Innsbruck Ass.Coach Flo Pedevilla:
“Hats off to the boys, that was a strong performance, even if a defeat is never nice, of course. But we looked really good against a top club, created a lot of chances and held back for a long time. We still have three weeks until the start of the season, so we have to keep working hard. But we are definitely on the right track.”
