Great hockey is coming back! Sparta will start its next pilgrimage to the prestigious Champions Hockey League on Friday, September 2 and on Sunday, September 4. Although the main priority is success in the extra league, everyone in the club would like to follow up on last year’s great ride through hockey Europe, which ended only in the quarterfinals.
“I’m most looking forward to the showdown with Lulela,” coach Pavel Patera is looking forward to the duel with the Swedish team, which we will encounter next Sunday. “It’s a tough group that will test us well and prepare us for the start of the season. We much prefer to play Champions Hockey League at this stage than friendlies,” he praises himself. There is also a special discounted package for all three matches of the basic group in Prague.
We will play our home matches again in the Fortuna Sports Hall, where almost seven thousand fans arrived for the first preparatory match. “I hope they will support us again! The Champions Hockey League is a quality competition, we played a lot of great games last year. Hopefully many of them will come to Holešovice again,” captain Michal Řepík hopes.
“We’re a bit unlucky that we’re always only going north. But we take it as a big challenge,” adds Řepík. Lulea played in the final of the Swedish league last year, Finland’s Jukurit qualified as the second team of the regular season and Aalborg is the reigning Danish champion.
