From stunning sunsets to shocking lightning – the shortlist for the best weather picture of the year revealed | UK News
From a fog-filled sky over a Slovenian highway to a shot of Storm Eunice in the UK, the shortlist for this year’s weather photographer of the year has been announced.
The competition, run by the Royal Meteorological Society, features a selection of stunning photographs from around the world – in a year where several countries experienced extreme weather conditions from record high temperatures to floods.
A total of 22 images have been shortlisted, including five from the UK.
Other pictures were taken in China, Spain, Sweden, Slovenia, Poland, India, Ethiopia, Canada, Antarctica, Slovakia and Myanmar.

For most of the year, Myanmar has been in the midst of a military coup, but Aung Chan Thar took this picture on a cloudy and rainy day in Kyaikt.
