SOS first aid kits for Ukraine!
The Annecy Solidarité Ukraine collective is asking for help from companies in the region to manufacture and finance 5,000 first aid kits for Ukrainians. 5,000 views are at stake.
Stopping bleeding, securing the airways, taking care of burns: all Ukrainians, volunteers in Civil Protection, are confronted with these vital questions. And first aid kits are sorely lacking. ” These kits are the first need that comes from the country at war confirm Romain Desbrest and Emmanuel Mieusset, co-coordinators and initiators of the Annecy Solidarité Ukraine collective (Ansouk). Hence the project to fund, create and ship 5,000 kits, which could save as many lives.
Annecy Solidarité Ukraine is not its first solidarity action with this country at war. Constituted in Annecy the day after the Russian invasion, it quickly brought together a large number of Haut-Savoyards eager to help the Ukrainians in one way or another. The outpouring of generosity and solidarity was such that in one week, the first convoy sent to Poland (March 4) brought together eleven vans!
” Thenremembers Romain Desbrest, who is also the president of the French Alpine Club of Annecy, we have structured ourselves like a company with managers for each division. We have also set up a donation platform thanks to which three semi-trailers left for Ukraine: March 23, April 26 and July 7. “. The need for food and clothing is no longer the priority. The priority is the vital breath which can perhaps pass through a first aid kit.
” We have set ourselves the goal of making 5,000he continues, knowing that one unit costs 100 euros. We therefore need to find 500,000 euros. The challenge is proportional to the service rendered by these objects: enormous. But the two co-leaders, who already see the first companies or communities helping them (Patagonia or Annecy for example), are confident in the regional economic fabric.
Looking for local suppliers
“ Companies can help us in two wayshe indicates. Either by making donations to us that they could exempt from tax, or by providing us with their know-how for the manufacture of certain items. We then buy them at a preferential price. Even if they are not specialized in this type of material, they may have the skills and the tools necessary to produce them. ” A tourniquet, for example, is made up of a metal part which is used to tightenexplains Emmanuel Mieusset, and a sewn part. It turns out that our economic fabric has many bar turners and companies specializing in the outdoors, who master these technologies… The idea being to make economies of scale with local and committed suppliers.
For now, Annecy Solidarité Ukraine, which launched its appeal for donations at the end of May, has already registered 40,000 euros. ” We ordered the kits », specifies Emmanuel Mieusset. But these kits will be empty. It will soon be a question of filling them with the equipment that the Ukrainians are accustomed to using on the front. Filled and packaged by the many volunteers who remain ready to act, they will then be reduced on the spot by the collective, without any structural costs having been deducted in the process.
