Warsaw: the symbol of Fighting Poland has returned to the Warsaw Uprising Mound
In the morning, a crane, several dozen meters long, entered the Warsaw Uprising Mound in Czerniaków. On the ropes he raised the Anchor which had been prepared earlier, the symbol of Fighting Poland. For a long time it was impossible to set it in the pedestal due to strong winds, but in the company she directed the Anchor properly and was placed in the mount.
The return of the Anchor is symbolic the end of modernization works in the Action Park “Burza” at the Mound of the Warsaw Uprising at ul. Bartycka. At the top of the hill, a two-level platform was reached, and on Friday, August 19, the platform was installed again – after a year’s absence – Monument to Fighting Poland.
Great Anchor in Czerniaków
In 1958, a work was submitted in a competition for the monuments of Warsaw, which assumed the transformation Places of the ruins of the destroyed Warsaw in Czerniaków in a monumental grave monument. The authors of the project were Krakow designers Witold Cęckiewicz, Helena and Roman Hussarcy, Maria Ledkiewicz and their associates. Nevertheless, until the nineties the mound was only a neglected debris warehouse. The name of the Uprising Uprising “(source in 2004 in the Warsaw location of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers, and in particular Lieutenant Colonel Eugeniusz “Kotwa” Ajewski. During the last 15 years of his life, an insurgent and architect of the Office for Reconstruction of the Capital, he intensively pursued the interface of the area and made it a place of national remembrance. Ajewski himself attributed the idea of creating such a place on the Mound to the architect Stanisław Gruszczyński, who initiated heaving the hill from the rubble of the demolished capital.
In the data settings, the object specified on the monument of two poles was set. After a few years, the vigorous pedestal was restored and renewed. New the base of the monument is about 4 meters high and made up of many citizens rebar that were created sustained supporting signs of Fighting Poland.
Where does the August 1st celebration take place?
The square at the top of the Mound is One of the main places of the celebration of the anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. According to the design, the top of the hill was modeled in solutions aimed at securing the cone. Inside, a two-level circular place was created, the space of which is to foster concentration, reflection and integration of users. In addition to this place, also in the focal point of the nearby point one and a half meters fault exposing the ruins of the demolished Warsaw.
It was built near the monument a place for a campfire of memory. The fire will be lit there for two days a year: on the anniversary of the outbreak and end of the Warsaw Uprising. However, from August 1 to October 2, i.e. for 63 days, the monument will be there illuminated in a way that imitates a flame.
New park in Warsaw
The area in the park has been properly formed and prepared for planting. Some of them have already been made. Currently, lawns are being established. Also started preparations for the construction of a footbridge that will lead to the treetops. Some walking paths were also built, and decorative trunks were installed in the place where the playground will be built.
The rubble from the devastated war in Warsaw is being distributed, among others along educational path to the top. There are also transverse brushwood dams on the Mound, which stabilize and constitute a decorative element.
