Traffic of images and sensations around Lake Annecy
Savoring the postcard of Annecy and its region in the background for plastic arts installations and performances is the successful bet of the Annecy landscapes operation. Since 2018, the 14-kilometre mirror lake and its two basins, its beaches, its mountains surrounding the city, the serpentine Thiou river have served as picture rails and natural settings for artists whose works, whether sculptural or choreographic, seem set in the environment.
Thirty-five monumental plastic works, nineteen of which are unpublished, are presented in the most varied places
This traffic of images and sensations between nature, culture and urban areas, piloted by Salvador Garcia, director of Bonlieu national scene of Annecy, broadcast, until September 25, thirty-five monumental plastic works including nineteen never before seen. From the Jardins de l’Europe to the Square de l’Evêché, from the Place François-de-Menthon to the Quai de la Cathédrale, the most varied places offer themselves an unusual beauty in view of often strange works that upset the everyday life by reverberating a destabilizing vision of the city.
The metal mirrors suspended in the trees bordering the lake by the French visual artist Jean Denant make heaven and earth interact. Already invited in 2021, Bob Verschueren, whose research focuses on trees and wood, proposes this time, under the title like a cloud, a bare trunk on which is placed a headdress of foliage as if to call for an extraordinary mushroom. As for the Déambulons workshop, it offers, with Tranquility, a vague bamboo parasol, an openwork shelter from the sun.
Shows and performances
Regularly, the event overflows by hosting shows. Its opening in July 2020, with a stroll entitled La Grande Balade, took place on the Semnoz massif, along 9 kilometers of trails. We opened our imaginary wings wide, following with our gaze the supple walk, on a wire 30 meters high, of Nathan Paulin above a circle of greenery.
This year, on Tuesday July 19, the tightrope walker, who has just broken a new world record by hanging 2,200 meters up the coast at Mont-Saint-Michel, pulled an 850-meter strap 40 meters above the lake to The Great Crossing. “This performance gave me a very meditative dimension, he confides. I am always focused, attentive, sometimes close to a trance state. Even though there were a lot of people, it was very peaceful and a rare moment to share. To progress above the water which moves like a ground in perpetual motion is quite destabilizing. There were a lot of boats and it was very beautiful. »
