Theory: The “Cypriot” and Greece
He heard a lot, before he could even file project credentials, mainly centered around his origins. “What does the Cypriot know about Greece?”, many said. He chose never to answer. He made up for his lack of communication skills, which others consider a political asset, with a regular job. From a Brussels technocrat he became a worker in Athens. Heading into late August, Stylianides’ model looks more successful than ever. He is not going to get credit from those who accused him before they even saw him. However, when he leaves his position, it is certain that he has left a strong message to anyone who does not believe that Greece and Cyprus have more in common than abroad. “The Cypriot did not let Greece burn”, as someone aptly told me.
The foul SYRIZA – PASOK
Can the opposition degenerate the wiretapping issue from a serious one to an area where the government will respond with ease? SYRIZA and PASOK have been making such honorable efforts in recent days, trying to find treasures that are only coals. Initially, the official opposition questioned whether the government used funds to buy the Predator, to get a detailed answer from Pierrakakis – Staikouras, as mentioned in a project for which there is no… contractor. The baton was taken by PASOK, which denounced the non-existence of an electronic record of surveillance provisions to the Communications Privacy Assurance Authority. Pierrakaki-Tsiara’s answer this time was that the KYA, invoked by PASOK-Movement of Change, does not concern the EYP, but prosecutorial provisions issued by prosecutorial officers of the local jurisdictions of the country’s courts, except for the prosecutorial officer of the EYP.
The political queue
The positions of SYRIZA and PASOK, apart from the sloppiness with which they were drafted, also “hide” a political goal. The battle for the political center is in full swing and, apparently, they believe that by targeting Pierrakakis, a central politician with great appeal, they will manage to enter more into the field. However, when the effort has no background, the results are the opposite.
Inadvertently
As a side note in yesterday’s caption of the photo of the Greek government aircraft granted to the Republic of Cyprus, it is stated that it is a Gulfstream, while it is an Embraer.
