San Marino. An evening to discover the literary work of the San Marino ‘peasant-poet’ Pietro Rossi
Discovering the literary work of the ‘farmer-poet’ Pietro Rossi, from San Marino in the nineteenth century: Wednesday 24 August at 9 pm at the Bibliobaita of the Laiala Park in Serravalle
Born May 14, 1804, Pietro Rossi had to live the conditions of extreme poverty that characterized the economy of San Marino at the time. Rossi was born a farmer and has always been a farmer, but with ups and downs. At times he immediately owed the poor productivity of land close to the badlands of the Ciarulla, at times instead he was favored by farms, entrusted to sharecropping, in the fertile foothills countryside of Domagnano.
What is certain is that when he began to make known, cultivate and sell his first poetic works, initially distributed as “poet sheets” and later printed in booklets, the life of the artist underwent a turning point, being able to count on an additional source of income.
It follows that Rossi’s notoriety spread, at least among the less well-off, willing to pay in order to preserve the verses that wisely interpreted and interpreted the facts of the time and social relations.
This poetic production, often fragmentary, has not, until recently, allowed to bring together in an essay of literary criticism, the entire production of the ‘peasant-poet’.
It could only have been an expert in Romagna dialectal poetry, such as Grazia Bravetti Magnoni, to create a text that would rearrange the material and subject it to a critical revision, capable of enhancing the work of an important Italian of the 19th century.
Bravetti, already a great expert in the work of Giustiniano Villa, succeeded in placing Rossi in the bed of the literati of lateism, who, however, never transcend the themes and registers of the scapigliatura.
This important recovery work will be the subject of the conference scheduled on August 24 at 9.00 pm at the Bibliobaita of the Laiala Park in Serravalle (RSM), organized by the Giunta del Castello di Serravalle and the Social Center of Dogana and curated by the bookblogger Silvia Ferrari for “Pietro Rossi. Farmer and poet”.
An opportunity to learn more about and commemorate the Rimini author Grazia Bravetti Magnoni one year after his death and for the work of Pietro Rossi, published by AIEP publisher within the “Il Piccolo Stato” series, so that it can be included in the heritage culture of Romagna.
