A lawsuit has been filed with the federal prosecutor’s office because of the attack by Russian soldiers on a Swiss journalist in Ukraine in March. The Ukrainian non-governmental organization Truth Hounds sued. The independent Geneva photojournalist was injured while working.
This is the first lawsuit of this kind in Switzerland, as the federal prosecutor explained on Friday.
The Ukrainian NGO filed its lawsuit on Wednesday with the support of Geneva-based organization Civitas Maxima, the two organizations said in a statement on Thursday.
The federal prosecutor’s office is now examining the ad according to the usual procedure, as explained to the Keystone-SDA news agency. The aim is to determine whether the federal authorities are responsible and whether there is a uniform suspicion of a crime. On this basis, the federal prosecutor will decide whether to open criminal proceedings.
