UEFA ranking: rout against Gil Vicente is bad news for Portugal
The season is still at the beginning, but the news for Portugal with regard to the UEFA rankings is no longer good.
Guimarães was eliminated from the Conference League, this Thursday it was Gil Vicente who said goodbye to the competition, after losing 4-0 against AZ Alkmaar.
And more than the defeat against an opponent from the Netherlands – which is sixth in the ranking, the possible defeat of Gil Vicente.
With this victory, AZ Alkmaar gives the Netherlands one more point – plus 0.5 from PSV Eindhoven’s draw on Tuesday, in the Champions League play-off. Which is not a problem there, even because Benfica is also a point for Portugal to Din. Kiev.
If the team in the Gil Vicente case is confirmed, Portugal will start the European group stages with only four to be able to score – FC Porto, Sporting, Benfica and Sp. Braga. And these points will always be divided by the total amount of equipment that will qualify as evidence. That is, I know.
In the Netherlands, which only qualified five teams, it remains at the moment with all of them in the competition. And only Twente, who lost this Thursday in Florence to Fiorentina (2-1), are at risk of being eliminated.
The Netherlands started a season ahead of Portugal, so if the final League doesn’t, Ere Europa will lose to the century and, with that, it loses in the Champions League season and a team in the competitions. Instead of the current six, it will have five.
Who should also be concerned is France, as the Netherlands are also approaching fifth place as a result of the last five seasons.
