Trapp’s hymn of praise for Schumi
“Football was never my thing. I’ve always tripped over my own feet. I’m pretty talented when it comes to football. That makes it all the more fun for me,” jokes basketball legend Dirk Nowitzki (44) – you should see that!
Next Wednesday (August 24, 6 p.m.) world stars (including Sebastian Vettel) will be kicking in the Frankfurt Arena. The proceeds from the annual “Champions For Charity” go to Nowitzki’s foundations and the family of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher (53), whose son Mick (23) also plays.
But there are also athletes among the celebrities who can really kick the ball: in addition to Eintracht’s Bundesliga record player Charly Körbel (67), Mats Hummels (33), Timo Werner (26), Laura Freigang (24) and European Cup winner Kevin Trapp (32) . The goalkeeper says: “When the request came, I actually said yes straight away.”
Trapp about Schumi: “He is an absolute role model. What he has achieved as an athlete and as a person deserves respect.”
And about Schumacher’s serious accident in 2013: “What happened back then shocked everyone. The beautiful thing is that Mick is continuing what Michael started and we can support it.”
Tickets are available from 10 euros.
