Hanover (dpa / lni) – A few days before the end of the 9-euro ticket in local transport, the calls for a permanently cheap offer for bus and train in Lower Saxony are getting louder. On Thursday, the Confederation of German Trade Unions (DGB), the environmental organization BUND and the local transport alliance Lower Saxony spoke out in favor of introducing a state-wide 365-euro annual ticket. The associations also called on the prospective state government to massively expand local transport both in the cities and in the country.
“What is now needed is a transport policy from a single source that creates permanently attractive offers that people can rely on,” said DGB district chief Mehrdad Payandeh. BUND country chief Susanne Gerstner explained that the switch to bus and train is also “a concrete contribution to urgently needed energy saving”.
