the pedestrianization of the Saint-Pierre bridge extended until September 18
Since July 18, the Saint-Pierre bridge in Toulouse has only been authorized for pedestrians and cyclists. An experiment which was to last until August 22, but finally extended until September 18.
Since July 18, it has been impossible to take the Pont Saint-Pierre if you are driving. The famous Toulouse bridge is now closed to motorized vehicles. Only pedestrians and cyclists are authorized to use these now redeveloped lanes. A device originally planned to last until Monday, August 22.
Artistic fresco on the ground, benches, picnic tables, cycle lane… Access to the city center is now done in colour. Since the beginning of this pedestrianization, the number of passers-by has increased, to the point of pushing the town hall to extend the experience until the end of summer. “The pedestrianization of the bridge at the start of the school year will also make it possible to better assess the impact on traffic in the neighboring districts, in order to feed the reflection and the consultation on the future of the Saint-Pierre bridge in the longer term”City Hall said in a statement.
The Saint-Pierre bridge therefore remains reserved for pedestrians and cyclists until September 18. Only emergency and service vehicles can use it and diversions are offered. The town hall also specifies that the work on the Paul Séjourné bridge will be completed before the end of August.
