The Brno heartthrob behind the wheel. Bus driver Křenek retired after 52 years
/PHOTO/ Edvard Křenek spent fifty-two years behind the wheel of a bus. Throughout the time, he remained loyal to the Brno transport company. He joined the company on May 18, 1971, and drove for the Slatina car company throughout his career.

Retired on Monday after countless kilometers. “I started riding with RTOs. Those cars had a very hard clutch, it can’t be compared to the current ones at all,” Křenek compared earlier.
According to him, the intensity of traffic in Brno’s streets has also changed in fifty years. When Křenek started, there was almost no one. “That was good, man. Not like now, because you will drive it,” Křenek described some time ago. Last year, he received an award for years of service from the management of the transport company.

Jaroslav Hanych also has a more than fifty-year career as a driver with the Brno transport company. He also received an award last year from representatives of a city company. Even though he was already retired, he still helped out and got behind the wheel last year. Most often on lines 70, 41 or 42. “When a person is always at home, he likes to go out here and there. Moreover, it never stopped entertaining me,” Hanych smiled last year.
According to the spokesperson of the Brno transport company, Hana Tomaštíková, the carrier will no longer employ him this year.
