Smallpox cases in Portugal rise to 810
The number of cases in Portugal of infection with the Monkeypox virus has been confirmed to 810, 40 more than the total statement last week, informed the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) this Thursday.
DGS data is released weekly on Thursdays and updated until the previous Wednesday. The first five cases were confirmed in Portugal on May 3.
Most of the reported cases are concentrated in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region (582), followed by the Norte region (107).
According to information released today by the DGS, of the 729 cases of infection among people indicated until Wednesday to the National Epidemiological Surveillance System, most (308) are 30 and 39 years old and men (723).
