Rimini. Historical re-enactment at sea, on Sunday 21 August, trafficking fishing returns
Among the most deeply rooted seafaring traditions there is “trafficking” fishing, a choral activity of the seaside villages, a moment of sharing for the community of fishermen, and not, who lived in Rimini. To keep memories and these ancient traditions alive, once again this year the non-profit association “Rimini per tutti” organizes re-enactments of trafficking fishing, a “poor” technique known since ancient times. This method, in use on our coast until the 1950s and then no longer authorized, is repeated in practical exhibitions along the Rimini coast in the name of safeguarding local traditions and to raise awareness of Adriatic fishing which has always been a source of sustenance for the Rimini seafaring population. For the summer season 2022 it will still be possible to attend and participate in the fishing operations “stretch to the beach”: Sunday 21 August 2022 from 10 am on the Rimini south beach, at Bagno 89 Caldari. It is practiced from the seashore, with the nets pulled by the arm of fishermen, with their ends carried into the sea by a small boat to create an arch. Everyone can participate in the practical exhibition, after the withdrawal of the nets, around noon, there will be a tasting of fish, piadina and local wine, offered to all those who participate in the event. The re-enactment will be repeated on 4th September at Bagno 68 (Lagomaggio area, meeting point at 3pm) and on 18th September at Bagno 106 / b in Rivazzurra Cocobeach (meeting at 2pm). To discover the world of the Rimini seafaring and fishing traditions, from this estate you can find information and interesting ideas through the widespread Museum of the Rimini Marine. An open space, in the suggestive riverside of artists in the San Giuliano Mare area, among the historic fishing huts and murals inspired by the stories of the sea, a place recently set up together with the schools of Rimini and the protagonists of the history of the local navy, which connects the symbolic places of the sea, scattered around the city, such as the Old Fish Market, the Lighthouse along the canal port, the shipyards of the shipwrights, the Fish Market, the Covered Market, the ancient seaside village of San Giuliano, the City Museum with an important archaeological section dedicated to the sea, the fishing huts, up to the main study and enhancement centers, including the Museum of Viserbella and the Vele al Terzo Association, which collaborated intervention intervention.
