MFAIE hosts the Meeting of Ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is organizing in Chisinau between August 18 and 19, 2022, the meeting of the ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova with the generic “Diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova in the context of regional opportunities and challenges”.
The inauguration of the meeting by the deputy prime minister, the minister of foreign affairs and European integration, Nicu Popescu, will take place on August 18, at 9:00 a.m., with the participation of the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
The purpose of the event is to examine the issues related to the implementation of the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova and the establishment of new tasks and priorities in the short and medium term, to assess the activity of diplomatic missions and to increase their efficiency. The meeting will examine issues related to the recent evolution of international relations, especially threats to regional and international security.
Also, the next steps will be discussed regarding the granting of EU candidate country status to the Republic of Moldova, as well as the realization of the Implementation Plan of the 9 recommendations proposed by the European Commission.
A priority on the agenda is also problems faced by the diaspora, ways to provide social protection to Moldovan citizens temporarily working abroad. In this sense, the heads of diplomatic missions will participate in the works of Diaspora Day, organized this year under the theme “A small country with a big heart”.
In order to streamline the activity of the embassies, to formulate concrete tasks for the institutions of the diplomatic service in order to achieve the objectives set by the authorities in foreign policy, the agenda of events includes meetings of the heads of missions with the president Maia Sandu, the president of the Parliament Igor Grosu, other leaders of the state institutions.
At the same time, as special guests, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will participate with videoconference interventions. , to the director of the economic diplomacy department within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Helene Dantoine.
