It opened its doors in 1995 and supported a major work program in 2016-2017, which made it possible to completely transform the facility and make it a modern, open and welcoming place for musicians and the public. With its 2 performance halls (230 and 1,200 seats), its 7 rehearsal and creation studios, La Vapeur is a place entirely dedicated to popular music. It offers concerts all year round by French and foreign artists, recognized and newcomers to discover, in various musical genres: jazz, soul, reggae, rock, rap, electro, punk, pop, folk, metal, chanson… The structure also offers a regular program for young audiences, a highlight with the GéNéRiQ festival (every year in February) and numerous collaborations with other Dijon cultural players. Advice, training, personalized support, rehearsals, artist residencies… also punctuate the place, which aims to support musical practice at department level. La Vapeur wishes to share current music with as many people as possible and offer various actions aimed at the public: musical awakening and artistic education, approach to music through workshops, a choir, conferences, actions in house stops, visits to the site, actions in favor of accessibility, etc.
