Toulouse: anti-vax signs embarrass local authorities
Antivax panels are springing up like mushrooms in the pink city. A new advertising sign warning of supposed side effects of vaccines has been seen in Toulouse, according to France 3 Occitanialess than a month after the premiere.
“1 cardiovascular accident for 100 injections: the health of our children is better than experimental vaccines”, can we read on this panel planted in the garden of a private residence in the Cocus district in the north of the city.
The message displayed on the panels is accompanied by a link to a European database on the adverse effects of vaccines against Covid-19. However, the web page specifies that “the information provided on this website does not undergo any confirmation of a potential link between the drug and the effect(s) observed”.
In early July, a first poster was reported near the Canal du Midi, according to the news site, and other panels were seen by Internet users. Contacted by Releasethe town hall estimates their number at eight this Wednesday.
This veritable “advertising campaign” is the work of the self-proclaimed “Independent Scientific Council”, of “Réinfo Covid” and “Réinfo Libertés”, collectives made up of health professionals opposed to vaccination.
The president of Réinfo Liberté, Vincent Pavan, told Liberation that this campaign, “financed by donations from supporters”, only concerned the Toulouse conurbation. “The Toulouse poster campaign is the result of a meeting and reflection with the supporters of Réinfo Covid 31, who wanted to get involved in the very important debate on vaccination for the youngest and to inform on the figures that can be put forward in terms of adverse effects”, he explained to our colleagues.
City hall can’t do anything.
According to Liberation, the prefect of Haute-Garonne, the director general of the Occitanie regional health agency and the president of the departmental council of the order of doctors condemned this Wednesday in a joint press release to this poster campaign , “which aims to disseminate misleading information on a crucial public health subject”.
They also announced their intention to “examine the legal avenues likely to be pursued against the authors of these posters and those who let them be affixed”.
However, the town hall had already indicated that it could not do anything when the first panel was discovered. The Environment Code, which governs the rules for public display, stipulates that “everyone has the right to express and disseminate information and ideas, whatever their nature, by means of advertising “. The municipality explained that it could not intervene, unless the posting caused a disturbance to public order. However, she made sure to think of a lever to have these posters removed.
