From August 30th to September 4th, the Krapoldi Festival transforms the Rapoldipark into a colorful playground for clowns, street performers and acrobats. A total of 80 performances, parades and street art festivals await the visitors, who are again invited to accompany the opening parade in costume.
INNSBRUCK. The third edition of the Krapoldi im Park again offers a highly varied program today. The festival will be opened on Tuesday, August 30th at 2:00 p.m. with a street art parade from the city center (Anna Column) into the Rapoldipark, in which visitors are invited to participate in costume. The opening parade is accompanied by jugglers, artists, drums and trumpets. A second parade will pass through Pradl on Thursday, September 1st and will be accompanied by impromptu performances. In contrast to the opening parade, the focus is on calmer, more sensuous tones, which are mainly created by violin music by Musikfreunde Innsbruck.
A feast for the whole family
The Krapoldi welcomes families and young visitors with open arms. The clown duo Herbert and Mimi as well as the popular Punch and Judy show on the Stöcklbühne have become an integral part of the festival. In addition, this year children can look forward to the loving figure theater by the Italian Compagnia Signor Formicola (“Varietà Mutanda”) and the clownesque play “Martha in a suitcase” by the Austrian artist Martha Laschkolnig. Young people will not only be in the audience, but also on stage: the youth circus Wirbelwind from the Tyrolean Oberland will demonstrate their skills in the circus disciplines juggling, aerial acrobatics, tightrope and acting in the play “In der Schokoladenfabrik”.
Artistic and charming jokes
While children and families in particular let off steam in the Rapoldipark during the day, young people and adults can look forward to amazing performances in the circus tent after dusk. At their first Krapoldi performance, the Viennese company Momento will amaze the audience with original acrobatic interludes in the contemporary show “In Your Face”. The comic duo Soralino throws, stacks and balances moving boxes through the air in the Austrian premiere of “Inbox” – always on the brink of disaster. The French clown actress Hélène Gustin in her role as Colette Gomette (“Prézidente”) becomes a presidential candidate by a stupid coincidence and tries to do justice to the seriousness of the office. The Compagnia PSIRC travels from Barcelona to Innsbruck: the exceptional artists bring sophisticated artistic numbers to the Krapoldi stage in their program “Acrometria” with apparent ease. Without saying a single word, the characters of the Baccala Compagnia in the internationally acclaimed production “PSS PSS” enchant us with their seriousness, innocence and joie de vivre, reminiscent of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin or Tim Burton.
This year the festival will again be held as a sustainable one. Krapoldi im Park is a certified green event. Waste avoidance, energy-saving technologies, regional catering, sustainable procurement of all products and the sustainable arrival of guests on foot, by bike or by public transport underline the sustainable character.
