Hairdresser beats up by robbers; prosecutor doubts fairness of all products | Antwerp
AntwerpOn Tuesday, the Public Prosecution Service has demanded three years in prison for three Dutch people who are being prosecuted for a home invasion in Antwerp. They would have robbed the victim, an Antwerp hairdresser, in his apartment and stole it. The defendants indict and speak of a financial dispute that they had tried to resolve nonviolently.
The police were called to the Duinstraat in Antwerp on August 4, 2021. The resident of an apartment said he was sleeping when his front door was suddenly smashed. Three men had come in armed with a knife and a firearm and needed money. They had also punched and kicked him.
His attackers took some belongings from him and then fled. He hadn’t gone after a broken broomstick. The victim was also threatened over the phone and via the Snapchat app. According to him, everything started with a deposit of 2,500 euros into his bank account.

Telephony investigation and images from the ANPR cameras from the investigators (34) and Nelinho lets I. (33) and Tony B., diestek go. The first two denied any home invasion.
Franco H. had learned it as a hairdresser, at his own hairdresser. On the evening before the actual facts, he went to visit him in Antwerp together with Nelinho I. and Tony B.. “When we got back to our hotel later, I came back to find that money had gone missing from my bag. I tried to call but got no answer. We therefore drove back to his apartment, but we did not kick in the door or use force. He gave me hairdressing equipment as a deposit until he could return the money. But he changed his mind even later, for he came after us with a broomstick.”
The prosecutor found that explanation implausible. Images from the city cameras showed that the victim knew the defendants, because he was not yet aware of the facts when he was in their car. “Both the victim and the defendants clearly do not show the back of their tongue,” the prosecutor concluded.
The defense pleaded the acquittal. “The victim is lying about everything and without his statement, the evidence is paper thin. He also couldn’t deal with our situations anymore, because the man has disappeared in between with the northern sun.”
Judgment will follow on August 30.
