Future of Infraestruturas de Portugal land in Coimbra still to be defined – Coimbra News
The future of the Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) land is yet to be defined, said the Coimbra City Council, referring to the entry of a new proposal compatible with the urban study for the right bank of the Mondego.
The IPmónio to be presented informally, in a meeting of the ground of a meeting of public space and ed in the same entity, next to the IP Património of the line of work arrived, that connects Coimbra-AB and that will be dismantled Sequence of the System of Mobility of Mondego (SMM ), the councilor responsible for urbanism, Ana Bastos, told the Lusa agency in a written response.
“It was the construction of a set of larger buildings with mixed use, although mostly limited to space, associated and properly compatible with the SMM channel and public crossings throughout the approved project forecast”, said the councilor.
However, the Coimbra City Council asks IP to suspend the process in view of the urban planning study to transform Avenida Aeminium into a “quality riverside area dedicated to socialization and urban enjoyment”, whose instrument was present in the quarter in public discussion at the first of this year.
“Later, the study was released to the City Council, released with urban guidelines, prior to the IP tension, duly reformulated and guided with municipal guidelines”, added Ana Bastos.
Asked by the Lusa agency about the future given to these lands and whether they will maintain any public domain or whether they will go to a future private sphere, an IP and the Ministry of Infrastructure themselves refer that “the decision on the use of the land was not taken at all ” , ensuring that any decision will be agreed between the municipality and the Government.
The Coimbra City Council also told the Lusa agency that the future of the land “is still closed”, but highlighted the executive’s proactivity in advancing with an urban study that does not prevent a distortion of the space.
For the municipality, “the ownership of the land is no longer relevant, from the moment the City Council moves forward in defining the lines oriented towards local territorial development”.
“Regardless of whether it is a public or private entity, the rules and conditions implemented for the viability of urban operations are the same of interest, based on a management that can be surpassed in the defense of the public”, he added, believing that the actions in urban management by the Chamber of Deputies Coimbra Administration will allow “to mark a new phase of development and of greater urban”.
