For the 47th time, a large-scale dirt bike race will be organized in the city of Cívis on the day of the state’s founding, which Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa called the most prestigious summer sports event in Eastern Hungary at the official press conference, given the field of world class and legendary competitors. The advanced sports infrastructures in Debrecen are regularly visited anyway, noted the deputy mayor, who made it public that the municipality is supporting the 47th Debrecen Grand Prix with one million forints.
Through a lot of work and effort, we managed to lure a world champion, the final winner of the 2017 Grand Prix, Jason Doyle, to Debrecen
Norbert Baráth took the floor. The main organizer listed at length the Australian record of achievements, including this year’s, for example the fact that Doyle was a member of the Australian national team that won the gold medal at the World Team Championships held in Denmark just a few weeks ago, alongside Jack Holder and Max Fricke. So it can be said that even five years after his individual World Cup title, he is riding in top form and is still successful. It is interesting that the last individual world champion competed in Debrecen 32 years ago, on August 20, 1990, when Hans Nielsen paid his respects in Hajdúság.
Barát also said that at the moment, in addition to the Australian, only three active competitors in the Grand Prix can boast individual World Cup titles, compatriot Chris Holder, Polish Bartosz Zmarzlik and British Tai Woffinden.
Doyle won’t get the points for free at the Gázvezið utca facility on St. Stephen’s Day, as he will face rivals such as the seven-time champion, four-time team world champion Niels Christian Iversen, or the Swede Peter Ljung, who also visited the Grand Prix and is also the team world champion. Celina Liebmann, a German lady who became a crowd favorite in Debrecen in the spring, will also start, and she will be given start number 1 as a sign of the organizers’ appreciation.
Annira loved Celina to the audience in Debrecen that she was the first competitor I called after Jason Doyle
– revealed Norbert Baráth, who predicted that we will be able to see his motorcycling entertaining the audience. In total, representatives of eleven nations will compete against each other on Saturday afternoon, including three Hungarians, Roland Kovács and Norbert Magosi from Debrecen, and Denisz Fazekas from Nagyhalász. It was said about the organization of the competition: 20 basic races will be held, that is, everyone will meet everyone. The best of the basic competition goes directly to the final, and the first two of the two semi-finals join, i.e. the winner of the 47th Debrecen Grand Prix will see a five-man final. Until then, however, many additional attractions are intended to entertain the audience.
In addition to the motorcyclists of the grand prix, the audience will be able to see young and old alike. Two young titans from Debrecen, László Harangozó and Milán Konya, will now hold a test ride in front of thousands of people, both students of the iron-clad icon Sándor Tihanyi. Subi is a little afraid of the boys that the lamp fever caused by thousands of spectators will affect their performance, but he trusts in their preparation, and there is still time for mental preparation until Saturday. The Iron Slipper legend noted:
Even in Europe, the fact that a large-scale, international competition is held for 47 years is a rarity, so every Debrecen resident can be proud.
The main sponsor, Péter Szabó, said that dirt bike racing in Debrecen can always count on the support of Shaeffler, because this beautiful tradition must be continued, and it gives many people joy to visit the Pál Perényi Stadium, because people in the region are hungry for technical sports, and slag motoring can be classified as one of the most spectacular.47th Debrecen Grand Prix international dirt bike competition
