Beach Volleyball – Munich – Beach Volleyball: Three German women’s teams in the round of 16 – Bavaria
Munich (AP) – Three German women’s teams have reached the round of 16 at the beach volleyball championship. Karla Borger/Julia Sude, Chantal Laboureur/Sarah Schulz and Isabel Schneider/Sanda Ittlinger each achieved their second wins in their second games in Munich on Wednesday and qualified for the round of 16. Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler have the men and Robin Sowa/Lukas Pfretzschner still have a chance of reaching the round of 16, but they have to win their games in the intermediate round.
Last year’s European Championship third-placed Borger/Sude from Stuttgart won their second appearance over the Italians Valentina Gottardi and Marta Menegatti 21:19, 21:19. Then the Stuttgart women Chantal Laboreur and Sarah Schulz followed. The German champions beat the Slovenians Tjasa Kotnik and Tajda Lovsin by almost 19:21, 23:21, 30:28. Hamburg’s Schneider/Ittlinger also had to struggle in their 19:21, 21:16, 15:13 against the Poles Katarzyna Kociolek/Mara Lodej.
Olympic champion Kira Walkenhorst and her interim partner Louisa Lippmann kept their chances to reach the round of 16. The duo won their second group game against Monika Paulikiene and Erika Kliokmanaite from Lithuania with 21:15, 17:21, 15:12 and can still get to the round of 16 via the intermediate round. Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann also have to take the detour. The World Championship third from Hamburg lost against the Spaniards Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno with 14:21, 21:19, 12:15.
Ehlers/Clemens Wickler are required for the men after the Hamburg team lost to the Austrians Julian Hörl and Alexander Horst 16:21, 21:15, 14:16. Robin Sowa/Lukas Pfretzschner can hope again after their first win against the Austrian Martin Ermacora/Moritz Pristauz with 19:21, 25:23, 15:13. Paul Henning/Sven Winter and Philipp Huster/Simon Pfretzschner, on the other hand, suffered their second defeats and several.
