What if Napoli solves another problem after Lobotka? There is a risk, Spalletti knows
The championship has just begun, but the transfer market will end on September 1st. There is still a lot of time to close other inbound and outbound trades.
In the summer session of the transfer market, in 2018, the Naples closed for the purchase of two goalkeepers, namely Alex Meret and Karnezis. For both, Udinese got 22 million plus 3 bonuses for the first and 2.5 for the second, for a total of 27.5 million euros. Karnezis subsequently moved to Lille as part of the operation that Osimhen has in the blue jersey. For Meret, however, too many ups and downs with both Ancelotti and Gattuso. Then Luciano Spalletti arrived. And the music hasn’t changed. Indeed, it has gotten worse. The Tuscan coach preferred the Colombian David Ospina over the course of the past season and would have liked his confirmation also for this season.
In addition, Spalletti himself used very harsh words towards Meret after a friendly match (click here to read). On the first day of the championship, however, against Hellas, he sent him out on the field. And the boy, born in 1997, responded with a good performance. It is too early to say if the coach will focus on him, there is some risk but not for the technical qualities of the extreme defender, but for what it takes to rely totally on him. The club continues to negotiate for Navas and Kepa after securing Sirigu. Meret does not yet have the contract expiring in the new year, but everyone’s hope is that Napoli can recover another technical and economic heritage after Lobotka.
